Best known as the lead singer of trip-hop legends Portishead, Beth Gibbons is the unmistakable voice behind some of the most hauntingly atmospheric music of the past 30 years. As part of Portishead, Gibbons won the Mercury Prize for the influential Bristol trio’s 1994 debut ‘Dummy’, and gained further acclaim for their self-titled follow up and 2008’s genre-defying ‘Third’. As a solo artist, she followed up 2002’s ‘Out of Season’ with the brilliant ‘Lives Outgrown’ in 2024, earning another Mercury Prize nomination in the process.
